A-Z of Summer 2015 trends

A-N
The Juice Magazine’s take on everything you need to know this season.
Athleisure
Stay super stylish by wearing your sportswear even when not working out. It’s comfy and oh so cool. What more can you ask for?
Basic bitch
We’re redefining the negative connotation of this label. Your basics will always be your best bet, even this spring. Think simple white tees worn with mom jeans and throw on a pair of tennis shoes for good measure.
Chic-onomics
Look stylish on a budget. This is achieved by adding luxe accessories to an otherwise plain ensemble.
Dorky
Geek chic is in again. Pull out those glasses, put on your cutest Peter Pan collar and while you’re at it, weave in some Haruki Murakami quotes into conversations.
Eastern influences
This season, fashion looks eastward with kimono jackets, obi belts and oriental floral prints ruling the runway.
Fruit salad
Go crazy with print-on-print from head to toe. If spring’s runway teaches us anything, it’s that there’s no meaning to the word ‘clashing’.
Glitter bug
Shine on in spring’s super-luxe metal-loving trend. From glittery nails to sequins galore, it’s time to celebrate sparkle.
H.A.M
Adj: Hard as a motherf***er.
Usage: Tia went H.A.M shopping on the great online shopping festival.
Indigo nation
Denim in all its glory: printed, distressed, patchwork, acid-wash, coloured and so much more. It’s official; there is no wrong way to wear this fabric this spring.
Justin Bieber
Yep, he’s back, but not with a new album. Say hello to the new face of Calvin Klein with his pecks, tattoos and bulge in tow.
Kendall Jenner
She’s not a new kid on the block, but this sure has been her season. From walking for all the biggest labels to being the new face of Estée Lauder, fashion has officially embraced this young Jenner.
Live streaming
In a bid to democratize fashion, brands such as Burberry, Michael Kors and even Tommy Hilfiger invite you to experience their FROW first-hand online.
Mad for Marsala
Pantone’s colour of the year rules the runway and even the high-street. Best worn all by itself with a hint of sparkle.
Noughties
It seems like that Y2K fever hasn’t left us after all. In its 2015 avatar, this decade’s fashion is back in the form of skimpy pink skirts and denim crop tops.
O-Z
Out-of-place opulence
Pair statement necklaces with plain T-shirts, or OTT fur with basic blue jeans. Apt juxtaposition is the rule of thumb to get this trend right.
Peasant parade
Feminine to a fault, this style is more than just off-shoulder blouses and frills. Take a cue from the Chanel show and join the freedom-of-expression march. Braless, if you must.
Quirky T-shirts
If your tee has a face on it, you’re good to go. If said face is a funny one, it’s even better. But remember that the secret ingredient is in the lips.
Rough around the edges
When it comes to clothes, hems aren’t cool. They have to be frayed, fringed or tasselled. And smudge your make-up for the final look.  Spring is making a primal distress call – so pay heed and sport the unfinished.
Seventies Revival
Spring summer 2015 unanimously stands up in support of the flower power decade. With its wide-leg trousers, slouchy-frilled silhouettes and full-bloom prints, this fashion tribute brings with it an air of free-spirited nonchalance.
Tom Tailor
The German high-street powerhouse makes its entry into the Indian market on Jabong.com and we couldn’t be more excited. Expect super comfortable clothing with an urban edge.
Uprising
Marc Jacobs, Rodarte and Ralph Lauren are some of the designers who want you to get combat ready this spring. Patchwork pockets, bejewelled parkas and the like are all on the agenda.
Va-Va-Volume
From big hair and full skirts to oversized sweatshirts, it’s all about the volume, baby. As they say, bigger is definitely better. But don’t forget your accessories while volumizing.
White noise
Make a statement in all white or keep it calm with soothing neutral tones. The antidote to spring’s love for print comes in all shades of white.
X-ray fabrics
The new rules of dressing demand that you show some skin without looking like a tramp. Cover up in fabrics likes organza, lace or tulle for the ultimate understated sexy look.
Young blood
Say hello to the fresh meat of fashion, Dhruv Kapoor and Josep Font. The former showed his first collection at Lakmé Fashion Week’s GenNext last year while the latter is the name behind the revival of Spanish brand Delpozo. Still in doubt? Rest assured, they come with big mama of style Sonam Kapoor’s stamp of approval.
Zombie eyes
We’ve seen eye make-up in all its shades, from the smokey one to the winged variant. Now it’s time to get ready for the apocalypse. Well, not really, just get yourself to look like a zombie. We swear it’s a trend to catch on in the year.
